I have been working in the field of family and relationship counselling since 2010 as a Registered Professional Counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. I completed a 3 year counsellor training program from Clearmind International Institute and hold a bachelor degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Ottawa.  I offer a dynamic, safe and innovative approach to my practice which focuses on individual and relationship counselling.

As a therapist I offer an insightful, compassionate and multifaceted approach to help you step more fully in to your life by facilitating a deeper and more enriching connection to yourself and your relationships.  The general approach I take comes from the perspective of Family Systems and Attachment Theory. I see each person and their dilemma as going beyond the individual, rather, through the frame of systems theory, we are inextricably linked to and a product of our family of origin and our relationships. This goes even beyond our immediate family to the generations before us. Drawing on these insights, I will look at the history of losses, relationship dynamics as well as the stories that have been passed down through generations. I will also look at how a family copes with crisis, and what deeply embedded family “rules” of conduct may be operating or interfering with your growth.

My personal healing journey began when I was in my 20's  and felt depressed and like my life lacked any meaningful purpose. I lived every day with an incredible amount of anxiety and never felt at ease in my skin. Finally I reached a breaking point where I knew I couldn't continue on in this way. This began a decade long process of unraveling that lead to an incredible amount of healing and ultimately a personal transformation. It wasn't easy, as I had to face the parts of myself I had been avoiding, but the result was that I felt a new found ease in my life and I no longer felt like I was a passive victim to life's circumstances. I learned to trust myself and have confidence in who I was. I did a lot of healing work on my early attachment wounds and the inter-generational trauma that was unconsciously driving many of my decisions. This awareness has been invaluable to me in my current role as a parent to two young boys, its helped me recognize my blind spots and allowed me to parent with more intention and less reactivity.

My goal as a therapist is to help you reach a state of healing and personal empowerment where you can confidently face life and all its challenges. You will learn how to be directed from the inside out by making use of your own personal resources, rather then simply reacting to life's challenges. I aim to help you understand and transform your greatest struggles by realizing the gifts that lie beneath. All healing happens in relationship. Whether you come to see me on your own or with your partner, my hope is to help you find your authentic self. The part of your self that has been waiting to meet you all your life.
