(presently on maternity leave)
I've been fascinated by pregnancy and birth ever since I was a young child. I find the whole reproductive process something to be revered and honoured. I am a huge proponent of home birth, post-natal support, and respectful parenting. My greatest hope as a doula and childbirth educator is to empower couples to do their research and make their own choices with confidence. Many birth stories are laden with phrases like "my doctor didn't let me ____", or "my midwife said I had to____"; too often birthers feel like they have no power. In truth, everything is your choice, even if it's not presented that way.
I currently offer childbirth education (private or group), placenta encapsulation, and facilitate a 'Mother's Self Renewal' group for mamas with pre-mobile babies. I do a little bit of postpartum doula work when my schedule allows and can make lactation cookies by request. I am privileged to be a full time mother and enjoy filling any spare time I have bringing people together in community, helping new families, and offering workshops through the Bowen Birth Collective.
To nourish my soul I bake, hike, swim in the ocean, make soap and body products, garden (a.k.a. feed the deer), ferment, and create beautiful things.
